Studentafton with Azita Raji, the United States Ambassador to Sweden
On the 27th of September the first female United States Ambassador to Sweden, as well as the first Iranian-American United States ambassador, will visit Lund and Studentafton.
Azita Raji was born in Iran, went to high school in Switzerland before moving to the Unites States at the age of 17. Se earned an M.B.A. in Finance from Colombia Business School in 1991 and became a U.S. citizen in 1998. In 2008 Raji left the financial sector to focus on national politics. She was a national advisory board member of the Democratic National Committee and a member of the Obama for America National Finance Committee from 2008-2012. In 2014 Raji was nominated by Barack Obama to serve as Ambassador to Sweden and confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate in February 2016.
Azita Raji will speak as a guest of honour at Studentafton and engage in a moderated conversation with Andreas Ekström. She will tell her personal story, speak about her position as a United States Ambassador and the diplomatic relations between Sweden and the United States of America. As always, the event will end with a Q&A with the audience.
