On September 26, Studentafton is hosting the new U.S. Ambassador to Sweden, Erik D. Ramanathan.
In January this year, Mr. Ramanathan was installed as the new U.S. Ambassador to Sweden. Roughly one month later, the world situation changed as Russian troops crossed into Ukraine and Sweden initiated its NATO application, a process where the U.S. Ambassador and diplomacy is very much involved.
Ambassador Ramanathan has had a very interdisciplinary career. During his bachelor level studies at Johns Hopkins he started engaging in LGBT rights, and later got his law degree from Harvard University. In the years that followed, he served as General Counsel for a listed bio-tech company and as Chairman of the non-profit public health organization Heluna Health.
What’s the situation for LGBT people living in the United States today? What is the U.S.’ role in an increasingly troubled world? Questions like these and many others will be addressed during the evening.
The evening will take place September 26th in the University building’s aula at seven o’clock (sharp). During the following half hour, the audience may ask questions directly to the ambassador. The event will be held in english.
